Before Lama Tenzin died in 2001, the Center began plans to build a new, larger Tibetan-style temple to meet the growing needs of the community. The new temple will be a vital gathering place for people from all walks of life and will ensure the stability of the dharma on Maui for future generations.
The untimely death of Lama Tenzin and the time it required for Lama Gyaltsen to arrive as the new resident teacher of the Center delayed the construction plans for the new temple to continue. During this interim it was overwhelmingly decided to build a stupa in memory of the late Lama Tenzin as a further gesture to affirm his legacy before building the new temple.
The Great Paia Lha Bab Stupa was completed in April 2007. Dedicated the late Lama Tenzin, it was consecrated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on April, 24 2007
The center will now turn its attention to the construction of the new larger temple. This project is a very larger undertaking and will take Time, resources and considerable Support. Please inquire if you can benefit this project.
